Custom Pre-Packaged Assembly

Pre-Packaged Assemblies (PPAs) are multiple, individual circuit protection devices (SPDs) customized into one easy to install enclosure.

Many times, when installing Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) to protect groups of individual circuits, the situation arises where it might be needed to use several different types of units or models in a small area. This may occur because:

There are multiple individual circuits to protect.
It may be advantageous to tie the ground or neutrals together on several SPDs.
All SPDs may need to be housed in a weather proof or specific type of enclosure.

These situations often call for a custom assembly. Many times, contractors do not have the time or expertise to construct such an assembly. Having the contractor perform this operation may be cost prohibitive as well. Applications like these can be addressed by using Pre-Packaged Assemblies (PPAs).

Pre-Packaged Assembly Applications

The number of uses for multiple, circuit protection devices (SPDs) and how they are assembled is practically unlimited. Constructed PPAs can range from small composite enclosures containing protection for two circuits, to large, custom, metallic enclosures that can protect hundreds of circuits.

Circuit types can be for power, telecom, data, audio, RF or a combination of all of these. They can be any group of individual circuit protection devices in multiples or in combination.

Below are some Custom PPA examples:

3 power, series-connected, individual circuit protection devices in a NEMA 4X Composite enclosure. SPDs are DIN rail mounted with shared, pre-wired, common ground point and ground bar.

6 Data SPDs for audio protection in metallic, NEMA 1 enclosure. SPDs are DIN rail mounted with common grounding point at ground bar. Enclosure includes pre-punched knock-outs.

Multiple power, series-connected SPDs with pre-wired terminal blocks utilizing 3 sides of custom, metallic enclosure. Units protect multiple individual lighting circuits. Assembly has each connection; phase, neutral and ground individually pre-wired with markings to correspond to the ciruit to be protected. Pre-wiring and marking allows for more effecient on-site install by contractor. SPDs are DIN rail mounted and share a common ground point via ground bars.

PPA includes a combination of series-connected power SPDs with pre-wired terminals, RJ45 connected Data SPDs and Current Loop SPDs. Units are housed in NEMA 12 metallic enclosure. Power SPDs are pre-wired to terminal blocks. All SPDs share common grounding point via ground bar.

Two different Data SPDs and a Current Loop SPD inside metallic NEMA 1 enclosure. DIN rail installed, including extra space and DIN rail available for future expansion. SPDs share common grounding point via ground bar.
